Job Summary:
The cake decorator is responsible for icing, decorating, merchandising, boxing,
pricing, and selling cakes in the bakery. Receives product from the bakers, decorates cakes for customer orders, general sales, weddings, birthdays, and special occasions. Takes and fills customer’s orders and keeps the case full of product. Operates icing tools, stocks dollies, mixing machines, mechanical price marking devices, and uses knives and case cutters. Must follow food safety guidelines.
Major duties:
Control consistency and quality of product.
Perform freshness checks and recondition product.
Date and rotate product.
Maintains courteous and friendly customer relations.
Maintain special orders. Assure they are prepared on timely basis and completed to standard
and pick-up or delivery is guaranteed
Minor duties:
Operate icing and finishing tools, printers, scales, and mixers.
Operate hydraulic baler, pallet jack, and trash compactor.
Keep company recipes confidential.
Perform sweeping, mopping, and cleaning functions.
Operate telephones and intercoms and practice proper telephone etiquette.
Follows all company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Read and write.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Lift and stack up to 50 pounds.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Pull or push wheeled vehicles weighing up to 500 pounds.
Reach and stock product up to 6 feet high.
Provide verbal and physical assistance to customers.
