Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) directs the daily operations of a child care center in accordance with state licensing requirements and regulations. Administers recruiting and staffing processes. Being a Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) provides training and professional development for staff. Oversees enrollment activities, communications, and events that foster positive relations with families and the community. Additionally, Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) ensures that the activities and surroundings meet the needs of children and provide safety and security. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or equivalent. Depending on the location, may require a state specific director certification or a more general certification such as the Child Development Associate (CDA). Typically requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Typically reports to senior management. The Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Assistant Director of Central Lutheran Church Child Care Center is responsible for contributing to the overall success of the Child Care Center, supporting the Center program and working with the Executive Director to implement and maintain the strategic direction of the organization. The Assistant Director will be expected to assist in the planning, supervising, and implementation of the program for child care in accordance with the policies and philosophies of the Central Lutheran Church Child Care Center, State of Minnesota, Department of Human Services Rule 3, Minnesota Department of Education, CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health in the best interests of the children and the Child Care Center.

    Position Requirements

    • Education/Experience: A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidate needs to have at minimum a Child Development Associate credential or have a secondary education with a focus on early childhood education, child development, education, or a related field. The candidate must qualify as a Teacher within the guidelines of Rule 3 with the State of MN, Dept. of Human Services.
    • Skills: The candidate should possess strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication and accounting skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products is required. The candidate should have the ability to supervise and train others, and to work constructively with people of all ages, both in group or one-to-one settings. Knowledge of child development is desired
    • Personal: The candidate should be self-motivated, able to work a flexible schedule, and be a team player with a positive attitude. The candidate should be capable of working alone or with large and small groups; must be willing to evaluate conflict situations and recommend/implement corrective action. This individual must successfully complete the State of Minnesota Background Check.
