Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) directs the daily operations of a child care center in accordance with state licensing requirements and regulations. Administers recruiting and staffing processes. Being a Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) provides training and professional development for staff. Oversees enrollment activities, communications, and events that foster positive relations with families and the community. Additionally, Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) ensures that the activities and surroundings meet the needs of children and provide safety and security. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or equivalent. Depending on the location, may require a state specific director certification or a more general certification such as the Child Development Associate (CDA). Typically requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Typically reports to senior management. The Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • Building Blocks Early Learning Center is currently seeking an Executive Director to lead our team in Stamford, CT.

     

    Building Blocks is part of a network of 39 preschools and early learning centers across New England.  We prioritize employee experience and the total well-being of our teachers and leaders.     The Executive Director is responsible for the school’s financial, operational, educational, and cultural success.  Ultimately, the Executive Director is tasked with creating and sustaining a happy and healthy learning environment for all enrolled children and staff.  Through effective written, virtual, and in-person communication skills, the Executive Director will model and foster genuine teamwork, leadership, and transparency in school and across our network of early education centers.

    Qualifications
    • Must be at least 20 years’ of age, and:
    • Obtained a high school diploma or equivalent and 1,080 hours of documented, supervised experience and 12 credits in ECE or child development from an approved program
    • OR 4-year college degree in ECE or child development from accredited institution and 360 hours of documented, supervised experience
    • Must have at least 3 credits in early childhood education administration with at least one year being hired/designated as director
    • Three to ten years in-school early education/classroom experience
    • Demonstrate kindness and respect for self, others, and our community at large
    • Skilled in play-based learning approaches and social-emotional learning


    Responsibilities:
    • Ensure and implement all child to teacher state-mandated ratio compliances
    • Ensure and implement all state-mandated safety and education regulations
    • Ensure and implement all company policies and procedures per employee and family handbooks
    • Convey and display mastery of licensure regulations, including the ability to prepare a school for licensure visits, communicate with licensors, and adapt to changing regulations
    • Ensure all staff and child files meet compliance at all times
    • Ensure monthly fire drills are completed
    • Schedule school staff within P & L payroll guidelines, ensuring that licensure guidelines and company quality standards are met and maintained. 
    • Own center-based daily/educational operations, including but not limited to:
    • Schedule and administer smooth daily opening and closing procedures
    • Oversee all on-site teacher and administrative training (including building a succession plan for Assistant Director to act as the center/school director in your absence)
    • Supervise curriculum to meet or exceed the standards of NAEYC’s developmental guidelines, and state education standards
    • Oversee school culture and activities
    • Ensure that anti-bias and anti-racism perspectives are evident throughout the school
    • Actively engage children, staff, and families in age-appropriate social-emotional learning
    • Serve as a mandated reporter, and ensure all staff understand their obligations as a mandated reporters
    • All weekly scheduling and payroll calculation are handled in the payroll system, i.e., Paylocity
    • Weekly Profit & Loss calculations are completed
    • Budgeting (e.g., billing, managing and collecting outstanding tuition, handling all voucher renewals, revenue drivers, and the ordering of supplies)
    • Communicate with families about all things related to tuition and billing 
    • Updating family payment and attendance schedules through company systems (e.g., Procare)
