Brief Duties and Responsibilities: Provides program supervision to child advocate volunteers and program staff. Responsible for interpreting and utilizing all available department and community resources to facilitate the development and continual operations of the Walla Walla Child Advocate Program and staff support to child advocate volunteers ensuring that children involved with the child advocate program receive advocacy and permanency planning. Work is performed with considerable professional independence. Work will involve contact with the citizenship of the county, the media, court system and state and community agencies.
Working Environment/Physical Abilities: Activity involves working both in an office setting and externally in the environment. Requires travel in bi-county area. Subject to a flexible work schedule as deemed necessary by the department. Requires sitting, standing, walking, maintaining balance, climbing stairs and inclines, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, requires a sense of touch, finger dexterity, ability to grip with fingers and hands, and to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social sciences, psychology, sociology, or closely related field. Two (2) years’ experience in the justice system working with juveniles is preferred, Bilingual skills in Spanish are desirable.
