PURPOSE/BELIEF STATEMENT:

The position of Life Enrichment Specialist merges the responsibilities of STNA and Activities leader to provide quality care in all facets of daily living and care needs. The Life Enrichment Specialist will work on our Connections Memory Unit, assisting residents with ADL needs, Restorative Programming, and life-enriching activities. Previous dementia experience preferred.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• STNA duties
• Assists residents with ADL needs, i.e., transfer, toileting, feeding, etc.
• Participates and aids in Restorative Programming for Memory Lane Unit residents
• Leads a variety of activities and provides residents with equipment and assistance
• Assists with planning, developing, coordinating and evaluating diversified, resident-centered life enrichment opportunities
• Communicates and coordinates all activities plans with Life Enrichment Coordinator and other departments
• Involves residents and/or families in developing life enrichment program
• Documents as needed
• Assists in supervising volunteers as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess a current State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) license
• Previous dementia experience preferred
• Must be able to lift, pull, push and move a minimum of 50 pounds and have knowledge of Transfers, Lifts and Hoyer use
• Knowledge of STNA and Activities practices, standards of practice, State practice acts and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care a plus!
• Must be able to assist in planning, organizing and conducting a variety of activities
• Must be able to deal tactfully with team members, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
• Must have a good performance and attendance record within the last 12 months
