Experience is preferred in collecting and analyzing data for instructional planning, ability to multi-task for optimum implementation of instruction, and a capacity to support students in all academic areas of reading, writing, and math, and co-planning with classroom teachers for co-teaching and differentiation in a competency-based grading system.Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide specialized instruction in both individual and small group modalities- Responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized goals and the maintenance of special education paperwork- Work in conjunction with a program-dedicated Social Worker to meet student social-emotional and educational needs- Consult, collaboration, and coordination with all team members regarding services- Consult with team members on curriculum modifications and accommodations based on learning needs.- Provide staff with resources, tools, and in-class recommendations related to students needs- Ability to develop Individual Education Plans, transition plans, measurable goals, and appropriate accommodations/modifications- Successful experience teaching students who have a variety of educational disabilities- Experience with neurodiverse students.- Provide consultative services to parents, teachers, and other educational personnel.- Responsible for coordination of home and school communication regarding educational programming when appropriate.- Ensure accurate data collection and analysis- Collaborate and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team in the development of student programmingQualifications & Skills: Required- Certified as Special Education Teacher (1900)- Three or more years of experience in a similar role- Strong knowledge of Special Education Law- Experience in a middle schoolPreferredIntellectual and Developmental Disabilities Certification (1833)Knowledge and experience in a Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS)Knowledge and experience in Competency-Based GradingExperience in a co-teaching model
