The Outreach Educator should be conscientious, personable, energetic and able to provide transportation for travel to various teaching locations. This position is responsible for teaching various lessons to students from Pre-K through 5th grade.

Key Responsibilities

• Presentation of the outreach lessons using best practice teaching methodology;
• Developing a positive rapport with classroom teachers and students modeling best teaching practices
• Organizing, repairing, and replacing materials for the lessons as needed for future use;
• Performing some clerical tasks including contact with teachers prior to the classroom visit and coordinating distribution of CDM materials;
• Traveling to lessons up to 50 miles one way using personal transportation or museum van on specific occasions;
• Participation in Museum sponsored events;
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Degree in Elementary Education or related education field required
• Two years experience teaching and managing children in a classroom setting that required state certification required
• Demonstrated excellence as a classroom teacher in grades K-8, specifically in presentation skills, student rapport and adult interaction;
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with a variety of personalities;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Valid driver license and insurable driving record;
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Part-Time, hourly; must be able to work a part-time schedule (12 - 25 hours per week) including day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts...
