Childbirth Educator jobs in Huntington, NY

The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is looking for two dynamic, engaging educators to join our team as we expand operations into metropolitan New Jersey. The full-time positions will be at a new DNALC located at the Biotech Innovation Center in Wayne, NJ. Due to open in October 2023, the new center is on the campus of Passaic County Technical Institute and adjoining a campus of Passaic County Community College.
The 6,500 square foot facility will have two teaching labs, a research lab, and a computer classroom.

Selected candidates will become members of a small, influential group recognized worldwide as a leader in creating and disseminating new methods in genetics education, including the fields of genomics, bioinformatics, and data science. - providing hands-on genetics and molecular biology instruction to precollege students visiting the DNALC for academic year field trips, summer camps, and extended research projects;
- presenting public tours;
- delivering in-school instruction;
- assisting with student research programs;
- conducting teacher training;
- developing teaching modules.

Strong candidates will have formal education in the biological sciences and backgrounds in research and/or teaching. New Jersey State teaching certification is a plus, but not required. The position demands a motivated self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, with excellent writing, computer, and communication skills.

Training, in advance of opening the Passaic facility will take place at DNALC locations in Sleepy Hollow, Brooklyn, and/or Cold Spring Harbor. Flexible scheduling will require occasional teaching at the Brooklyn or Sleepy Hollow facility.

Education Required: Undergraduate Degree
Experience Required: 1-3 years

The salary range or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
