Carolina Dance Productions is growing our team and seeking a knowledgeable, creative, and artistic dance instructor and choreographer to bring their vision to our competitive teams. This role will be responsible for teaching, cleaning, and choreographing a variety of styles to our competitive dancers.

We pride ourselves in teaching a variety of styles to dancers of all ages and sharing our love of dance with others. Our dancers span from baby ballerinas to elite competitive-level dancers with aspirations of dance beyond just the studio. We value teamwork, drive, and work-life balance. We want to grow our instructional team for our 2024-2025 season and beyond and are looking for another person who loves educating and creating like we do.
What is it like to work at CDP?
We have a beautiful, 4 studio building in Clayton, NC. Each classroom has sprung Marley floors and if you’re not teaching, we have a comfortable staff break room for you to hang out or work on administrative work. Our competitive dance instructors work part-time Monday to Thursday, with occasional rehearsals, competitive events, and private lessons on the weekend. All of our team participates in our year-end Recital. Our team members have a variety of classes to teach, based on your availability and dance background. This role will work weekly with our competitive dancers to sharpen their skills and expand their horizons with new, innovative, moves. This may mean setting their own choreography on a group or cleaning outside choreography weekly for a competitive group. Our team is tight-knit and works together to create a supportive, welcoming, and exciting experience for all dancers.
Who are we looking for?
Our ideal candidate has progressive dance instruction experience in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, and other styles. This role is specifically crafted for someone who knows not only how to identify corrections but also how to explain what the body should experience in order to apply the correction. We are looking for someone who can command a classroom, motivate dancers to be the best version of themselves, and with an eye for detail. References will be required and a sample reel is preferred.
Duties:
- Develop and implement dance lesson plans and curriculum
- Teach various dance styles such as ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop
- Provide individualized instruction to students based on their skill level and goals
- Demonstrate dance techniques and proper form
- Choreograph routines for performances and competitions
- Conduct rehearsals and provide constructive feedback to students
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff members to plan events and performances
- Stay up-to-date with current dance trends and techniques
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Dance Instructor or similar role
- Proficient in multiple dance styles, including ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and the ability to work with students of all ages and skill levels
- Knowledge of curriculum development principles
- Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans
- A passion for dance education and a desire to inspire others
