May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed.     Stantec’s New England Transportation group is looking for a Civil Engineer- EIT in Vermont!

    We are looking for a Civil Engineer- EIT that will work with our project teams to assist with plans and designs of civil engineering projects such as highways, bridges, and other transportation structures. This individual will have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and diverse projects in the region and will be joining a growing team of transportation professionals.

    What Will You Be Doing?

    As a Civil Engineer-EIT, you will be a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.

    Specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Perform basic calculations to analyze and design components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
    • Assist team in preparing designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions.
    • Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/designer
    • Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
    • Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.
    • Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare working drawings. Continues to develop skills using software programs for design and/or drafting (MicroStation/ORD, AutoCAD, spreadsheets, and MathCAD).
    • Perform field work related to construction related activities as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by a senior engineer

    Qualifications

    What Will You Need to Succeed?

    • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering.
    • With 0-5 years of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
    • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or intent to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
    • Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of design
    • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
    • Basic understanding of Microstation and/or any other relevant computer design software
    • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others
    • Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various designs

    Position will primarily work in an office setting with part time remote work possibility; Will require some field work.
