Civil Engineer designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed. We are a land development firm with 20 years in the business, & are looking for a candidate to become a part of our project team. This is a rare opportunity, and we realize we're looking for someone with a unique set of skills that may be hard to find. This position offers upward mobility as time goes on, and there is No long term salary cap. This platform requires us to list a starting salary, but his can be negotiated depending on skill set.
Ideally this person we're seeking would be proficient in AutoCAD and other related modern design computer software, & could become a pillar of our team on a variety of residential & commercial projects.
One of the things I can assure you of up front is that you will never be board in this position. We're constantly shifting around & working in different environments with their own unique set of obstacles. This job can be really fun & rewarding, but it can also be somewhat stressful at times. The ability to think outside the box and creatively solve issues is highly valued. You would be an integral part of the decision making process at the highest level.
Ideally this person would be comfortable in a fast paced environment periodically, and also be willing to do an assortment of project management tasks in addition to general CAD work. There are many tasks that need to be done daily, on top of getting the occasional curveball thrown in. These tasks include but are not limited to: Ability to help with neighborhood design CAD work along with an assortment of other CAD tasks, complete accurate development/building applications, create maps & exhibits for various applications, digital file management, active construction inspection, and ability to advise construction field personnel.
Must work well with others and be a good team player. We’re hoping for someone creative, friendly, and enthusiastic about what they do. We’d like to find someone who excels at problem-solving and critical thinking and is good at prioritizing their work.
