Civil Engineer designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed.     Sunrise Engineering is currently initiating a search for a Civil Engineer to support our growing organization. This Full Time position is based in our Fort Collins, CO office during our business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

     

    A Day in the Life of a Civil Engineer

    As a Civil Engineer at Sunrise Engineering in Fort Collins, each day unfolds with a sense of purpose and excitement. Collaborating with a dynamic team, you embark on a journey to create innovative solutions for community engineering projects. In the afternoon, you meet with clients, acting as their advocate and building strong relationships. As a mentor, you guide and nurture the growth of EITs and designers. 

    Your day-to-day activities may include:

    • Leading and managing civil engineering projects, which encompass water, sewer, drainage, and grading elements.
    • Utilizing AutoCAD and Land Desktop software to prepare original drawings and revisions for civil engineering projects.
    •  Conducting engineering studies, acquiring funding, and navigating the permitting process for successful project implementation.
    • Acting as a client advocate, ensuring client satisfaction and building lasting relationships.
    • Fostering a positive work environment, mentoring team members, and promoting a culture of Safety, Balance, and Fun.

    • A bachelor’s degree in engineering coupled with a valid P.E. License.
