Civil Engineer jobs in Somerset, NJ
Civil Engineer designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Civil Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

They are looking for a person who will be responsible to analyze and design public improvement projects and facilities such as roads, roadways, storm sewer lines, traffic lights, etc. Provide contractors and the public with technical information relating to the engineering projects. Review of construction permit applications for compliance with township ordinances, NIDEP and other regulations.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-4 years of experience in civil engineering work that can include capital construction projects such as roads, roadways, sports fields and courts, storm and sanitary projects. Internships do count!
- Knowledge of GIS or ability to learn with on-the-job training.
- Engineering in Training Certificate (EIT) helpful.
- Experience with Military roads and roadways or related experience accepted.
- Need to be able to work without sponsorship now or in the future.
