Civil Engineer designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed.     About this Role

    QUES safely provides engineering, procurement and construction services for comprehensive infrastructure needs in the electric power, and communication industries.  QUES has the knowledge and expertise to handle a full spectrum of projects. From the most straightforward, single-component installation to the most complex, multi-state project, QUES handles the job safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.  The Civil Engineer will design, plan, and supervise the construction of infrastructure projects such as power and natural gas lines, electric vehicle chargers, and associated structural components. 

    What You'll Do

    •   Directs and oversees staff members regarding construction, operations, and/or maintenance tasks and assignments at a project site.
    •   Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural   repairs.
    •    Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs; plans and designs other necessary and related systems and structures such as transportation or structures.
    •    Assesses strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel by testing materials and soil.
    •    Sets design specifications by computing grade requirements, ADA access, traffic flow rates, and similar parameters.
    •    Plans projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
    •    Drafts and presents reports on topics related to projects such as environmental impact statements and right-of-way descriptions. 
    •    Estimates materials, equipment, and labor needed to determine project costs.     
    •    Collaborates with architects and contractors to ensure projects progress properly.
    •    Collaborates with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
    •    Monitors project progress and ensures design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards are met.
    •    On completion of a project, inspects, repairs, and maintains the structures as needed.
    •    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    What You'll Bring

    • Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
    • Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.
    • Thorough understanding of utility infrastructure, site design and planning, traffic control, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and tools involved in the construction or repair of such facilities.
    • Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
    • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
    • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.

     

    Education and Experience:

     

    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.Licensed as a professional engineer (PE) in the State of California required.

     

     

    Compensation Range

    The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $90,000.00/Yr. - depending on experience and qualifications.
