Civil Engineering Supervisor supervises a team of civil engineers who design and develop construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, and roads. Ensures maintenance of equipment and adherence to safety prevention measures. Being a Civil Engineering Supervisor monitors personnel needs and schedules staff accordingly. Also responsible for preparing proposals, establishing completion dates and cost estimates, and evaluation results. Additionally, Civil Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically requires the Certified Professional Engineer (PE) credential. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.   • Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Civil/Structural Designer Drafter job opportunity in Santa Fe, NM.

    Job Description:
    This position is an excellent opportunity for Civil/Structural Designer/Drafter to be part of a dynamic small business providing full-architectural and engineering design services in northern New Mexico and Albuquerque. This position resides in Santa Fe, NM, but also provides support to other offices. Position will work closely with senior level civil/structural engineers. Develop civil and structural construction packages by working closely with multiple design disciplines. Provide assistance in reviewing submittals, and conducting field survey. Perform calculations under the directives of the senior level engineer. This position requires U.S. citizenship and full COVID vaccination.

    Responsibilities:
    Must be a team player with initiative and integrity. Requires well-developed organizational and communication skills and the ability to maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with architectural-engineering team and clients. Duties are somewhat varied in nature, requiring independent judgment involving commonly encountered problems. Uses the principles and theories of engineering, math and science to assist in solving technical problems within discipline in support of developing calculations, construction drawings, etc. Responsible for assigned activities within an engineering discipline in support of definitive design and construction phase engineering support. Works with engineering team to ensure coordination of design and adherence to drawing standards. Develops non-routine CAD drawings, client standard templates, and design models. Works independently and as part of a team. Utilizes engineering and computer technology to accomplish work. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.

    Skill Preferences:
    • 5 years of demonstrated experience in civil/structural engineering design \ drafting.
    • Experience in water/wastewater, land development, grading/drainage and solid waste design preferred.
    • Ability to develop structural details, calculations.
    • Ability to do architectural details and drafting a plus.
    • Ability to understand technical requirements of major segments of a variety of projects both large and complex project as well as small.
    • Uses computer-aided design (CAD) equipment to produce unique drawings/layouts of non-standard components, facilities and/or systems.
    • Production oriented and proficient in latest version of Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, RISA 3D modeling.
    • Revit experience a plus.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
    • Must be customer-oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Must be detail oriented and organized.
    • Familiarity with IBC and IEBC a plus.
    • Demonstrates strong collaboration skills in working with multiple discipline teams and clients.
    • DOE and DOD design standards and applicable design codes and standards experience a plus.
    • A federal background security investigation and drug screening will be required for all new hires once employed. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Random drug screening will be conducted.

    Education:
    Associates Degree in engineering, engineering technology, science, math or related degree from an accredited institution required; or equivalent years of relevant experience in lieu of degree requirement.

    • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Understanding of architectural and MEP systems to coordinate their scope of work with all the other building components.
    • Understanding of how building materials are assembled.
    • Review and evaluate deliverables, identify, and resolve technical/construction issues.
    • Recognize responsibilities to the company and applies effective work habits and approaches to meet work requirements.
    • Effective written, spoken and graphic communication skills.
    • Strong project skills and ability to relate and communicate with clients, subcontractors, co-workers, and project construction team.
    • Developed business etiquette.
    • Works well with customers under tight deadlines.
    • Deliver outstanding client service through timely response and proactive solutions.
    • All designs are reviewed by client subject matter experts. Organization, resolution, and ensuring incorporation of comments as negotiated during design and construction is essential. Ability to work well with reviewers is a necessity. Coordination within architectural discipline and with other disciplines is routine.
