Being a Claims Analyst maintains updated records and prepares required documentation. Assists in controlling the cost of processing claims. Additionally, Claims Analyst contacts policyholders about claims and may provide information regarding the amount of benefits. May require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Claims Analyst gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Our Field Property Claims Adjusters will:

    • Conduct field based investigations by visiting policyholders’ homes to investigate property damage.
    • Use claims handling software, a company car and laptop to determine claims related damage and write estimates in a paperless environment
    • Represents the Company from a public relations standpoint and must conduct oneself as a member of Management at all times.
    • Use strong customer service skills to negotiate with policyholders to settle the claim.

    Job Summary

    Investigates, determines liability, confirms coverage, establishes damages, and negotiates settlement of claims. Will also be required to maintain an active adjusters license in states where required.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Investigates, confirms coverage, determines liability, establishes damages, reports status and negotiates the settlement of assigned cases (has authority to make payment of assigned claims within prescribed limits).
    • Adjusts all types of claims.
    • Inspects damaged property and determines claims related damage.
    • Determines and reports on subrogation potential.
    • Initiates the sale of salvaged personal property, and miscellaneous salvage items.
    • Reports theft, fraud, and arson losses as required to state and industry agencies.
    • Performs most duties on an individual basis, and work has a direct bearing on Management results.
    • Represents the Company from a public relations standpoint and must conduct oneself as a member of Management at all times.
    • Personal contacts are a major part of activity and include policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair facilities, contractors, police and fire departments, state and county fraud and arson personnel, special investigators, attorneys, expert witnesses, members of the medical profession and all other persons incident to the investigation and processing of claims. *Employees assigned to the Catastrophe team will be required to travel away from their residence for a specified period of time, usually consisting of 23 days.
    • Promotes safety at all times and complies with safety/ergonomic standards as outlined in relevant company published manuals.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education Requirements

    High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    Experience Requirements

    None. Must achieve minimum passing scores on all claims training exams.

    • Ability to conduct thorough investigations into the cause and extent of property damage
    • Deep understanding of insurance policies
    • Proficiency in estimating software
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Effective communication and empathy to provide support and guidance to policyholders

    Physical Actions

    As a Field Property Claims Adjuster, the job often involves various physical actions and tasks that require mobility, stamina, and physical dexterity. Some of the physical actions typically required in this role include:

    • Conducting thorough inspections of damaged properties, which may involve walking, climbing stairs, and navigating through different areas of buildings or outdoor spaces.

    • Moving and lifting objects or equipment such as measurement tools, cameras, or personal protective gear needed for property inspections.

    • Working outdoors in various weather conditions to assess property damage, which may involve exposure to heat, cold, rain, or other environmental elements.

    • Traveling to different locations to inspect properties, meet with policyholders, and assess damage. This may require driving a vehicle for extended periods and navigating through different types of terrain.

    • Performing tasks that require physical exertion, such as climbing ladders, accessing rooftops, or moving debris to assess damage accurately.

    • Writing reports, taking photographs, and documenting property damage and claim details, often while standing or walking around the property.

    • Interacting with policyholders, contractors, and other stakeholders involved in the claims process, which may involve standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods during meetings or discussions.

    • Following safety protocols and using personal protective equipment when inspecting properties, particularly in hazardous or unstable conditions.

    Physical Environment

    Required job duties are normally performed in a climate- controlled office environment, but with exposure to some or all of the following environments when in the field: Uncontrolled outside environmental conditions Excessive Noise Levels Chemicals Chemical/Biological Conditions Moving Mechanical Parts Areas considered dangerous Conditions, which could affect the respiratory system or skin such as: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, oils, smoke, soot, or poor ventilation.
