Claims Examiner reviews, evaluates, and processes insurance claims and makes recommendations for resolution. Examines and authorizes insurance claims investigated by insurance adjusters. Being a Claims Examiner studies reports prepared by adjusters and similar claims to determine the extent of insurance coverage and validity of the claim. Communicates with agents, claimants, and policy holders. Additionally, Claims Examiner determines settlement according to organization practices and procedures. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Claims Examiner work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. A Risk Management Clerk enters data into a computer or disk for subsequent entry by performing the following duties.
Key measures of success include:
- Provides accurate and detailed work.
- Contribute to building a positive team spirit and build morale and group commitment to goals and objectives.
- Be recognized by team, peers, and drivers as key supporters.
- Take incident reports for property damage and cargo.
- Maintains proper record of generated reports and or documentation.
- Assign claims to in-house claims processors or adjusters, assist in ordering police reports, request and maintain all internal records and needed.
- Issue insurance certificates for company and affiliates.
- Enters alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data into the computer system.
- Compiles, sorts, and verifies the accuracy of data to be entered.
- Keeps record of work completed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Perform other clerical duties as assigned by supervisor.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and at least two related experiences and/or training.
- Writes clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information
- Demonstrates attention to detail demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness.
- Prioritizes and completes administrative tasks correctly and on time.
- Bilingual proficient in both English & Spanish language (Required).
