Claims Examiner, Sr. reviews, evaluates, and processes insurance claims and makes recommendations for resolution. Examines and authorizes insurance claims investigated by insurance adjusters. Being a Claims Examiner, Sr. studies reports prepared by adjusters and similar claims to determine the extent of insurance coverage and validity of the claim. Communicates with agents, claimants, and policy holders. Additionally, Claims Examiner, Sr. determines settlement according to organization practices and procedures. May require a bachelor's degree. About the Position
The primary duties of this position are to review plans and specifications for buildings and
structures proposed for construction, alteration or repair for compliance with applicable building codes, approved plans and specifications and other regulations and ordinances related to public health, safety and welfare. Under the supervision of the Building Official, the position performs inspections and/or plan reviews for all types of building and structures for compliance with State Building Codes as well as local rules and regulations. The position meets with developers, designers, contractors and owners to help identify and resolve issues.
Plans Examiner, Senior:
This is the advanced journey level class in the Plans Examiner series. Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series including reviewing multi-unit residential and commercial structures. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.
About the Division
The Land Management Division includes the following programs: Land Use Planning, Building Safety, Administration and Code Compliance. The Division provides customer service in areas such as issuing planning, building, and septic permits; reviewing building plans; inspecting structures for compliance with state and national code standards and regulations; and responding to complaints of code violations.Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm

Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in engineering, architecture or a related field is desirable.
Experience:
Three years of responsible plans examination experience.
An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Licensing Requirements:
Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) from the State of Oregon.
Possession of ICC Certified Building Plans Examiner (83) and Oregon Inspector Certificate (the latter within 6 months of appointment) OR Oregon Code Certification as an A-level Plans Examiner (PEA) and
Possession of a valid ICC Certified Fire Plans Examiner (F3) and Oregon Inspector Certificate (the latter within 6 months of appointment) OR Oregon Code Certification as a Fire and Life Safety Plans Examiner.
DRIVER’S LICENSE
Must be in possession of a valid driver's license at time of application, and a valid Oregon Driver's license by time of appointment.
