Being a Claims Examiner, Sr. studies reports prepared by adjusters and similar claims to determine the extent of insurance coverage and validity of the claim. Communicates with agents, claimants, and policy holders. Additionally, Claims Examiner, Sr. determines settlement according to organization practices and procedures. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Claims Examiner, Sr. occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    The role of a PennDOT Driver License Examiner is crucial in ensuring highway safety. They conduct standardized examinations to assess the abilities and competence of individuals applying for non-commercial driver licenses. In addition to testing, they also assist in serving counter customers at the Driver License Center. One of their important responsibilities is verifying identity documents to prevent identity theft and fraud. As an examiner, you will evaluate the physical and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as inspect vehicles to ensure they meet the required safety standards. This includes administering tests for vision, such as tele binocular and color perception assessments.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:
    • Full-time employment.
    • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • Overtime and travel required as needed.
    • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
    • One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (commonwealth title); or
    • Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

    Special Requirements:
    • This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
    • This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five-year period immediately preceding employment.
    • All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
