Sterile Processing Manager - Endoscopy

This job oversees staffing of the sterile processing team, including hiring, completing evaluations, and training. Handles budget planning regarding FTE, instrument, supply and equipment expenses. Manages regulatory compliance and quality initiatives to ensure appropriate patient care and maintain cost efficiency for the organization.

Education:
- Required - Associate's degree in health science or related field.
- Preferred - Bachelor's degree in health science or related field.
Work Experience:
- Required - 3 years of clinical or leadership experience.
- Preferred - 5 years of clinical or leadership experience.
Certifications:
- Required - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) upon hire;
OR
- Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) through the IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management) or the CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within 6 months of hire.
OR
- Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) through the CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) when if working in GI/Endo department that only handles the processing of endoscopes and like equipment.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Job Duties:
- Manages hiring, onboarding, orientation, annual performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline for the sterile processing team.
- Participates in financial management through budget planning preparations, FTE allotments, and monitoring overtime, equipment & supply expenses.
- Manages instrument ordering, maintenance, and inventory.
- Provides guidance over quality initiatives and drives improvement plans concentrating on metrics and quality indicators.
- Oversees regulatory compliance.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.
