    Opportunity Bank of Montana is currently seeking a Director of Internal Audit to lead our new Internal Audit Division. This position may be based at any of our locations across Montana. As our Director of Internal Audit, you will oversee the functions of planning, organization, directing, and controlling the Bank's internal audits. You will examine the accuracy and completeness of records and procedures for internal control to safeguard Bank assets, ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and laws; report audit findings, and make recommendations to mitigate risk. You will also oversee and coordinate specified external audits and federal and state exams:

    • Carry out the Bank's vision and mission.
    • Oversee management, direction, and development of the Bank's Internal Audit Department staff.
    • Oversee the planning, organization, direction, and control of the Bank's Internal Audit Department under the direction of the Chief Risk Officer & Chief Administrative Officer. This includes maintaining audit risk assessments, well defined audit objectives, and audit schedules that safeguard Bank assets and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws.
    • Responsible for supporting Department leadership in risk mitigation efforts by recommending preventative actions, policies, procedures, documentation, or capitalizing upon other opportunities where the Bank can improve its operations and internal controls.
    • Ensures designated areas and functions of the Bank are audited on a regular basis; assigns risk rating to each area designated for audit; and performs unannounced "spot" audits when necessary.
    • Provides consultation and best practice advice with respect to internal Bank operations and internal controls.
    • Participates on the Bank's audit committee and prepares reports of audits conducted for submission to audit committee as requested; may serve on other Bank committees as required.
    • Assist in coordinating audit plans or programs with third party external auditors or regulatory examiners.
    • Review audit reports of internal and external auditors to monitor adequacy of scope of reports or to discover weaknesses in operations and routines.
    • Review and analyze new, proposed, or revised laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to interpret their meaning and determine their impact.
    • Maintains accurate and current audit and internal control policies, procedures, and related documentation.
    • Maintains comprehensive audit and exam exceptions/findings tracking system.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    4-year college degree (accounting, finance or related) and 4 years' relevant experience-or equivalent combination of education & experience


    Education and Experience Preferences

    Advanced knowledge and experience in auditing and/or accounting

    5 years' experience in bank auditing

    Supervisory and/or leadership experience

    Experience auditing public companies


    Licensing/Certification Requirements

    CPA
