Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to monitor, audit, inspect and plan the quality of products and services in accordance with corporate quality procedures. This position also assists the Manager of Quality in auditing Quality Processes and Procedures.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
· Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes that are continually being improved to satisfy our customers’ needs.
· Develop and define process control requirements and measurement systems; creates and improves control plans.
· Identify sources of variation that result in defects and customer complaints, using variation reduction tools such as 6 Sigma.
· Work collaboratively with cross functional team on product development using APQP Core Tools, with the goal to identify and prevent defects prior to production.
· Lead problem solving with all levels of the organization including Engineering and Manufacturing use disciplined methods such as 8D.
· Understand, support, and provide appropriate activities and training related to the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
· Develop sampling plans, quality standards, and process control instructions for use by manufacturing in monitoring and reducing variation.
· Serves as Internal Auditor and perform audits of quality processes to ensure compliance, and lead teams to develop corrective actions for non-conformances.
· Assist in the development of quality processes & procedures in order to create effective and standardized work practices.
· Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, RMA’s, complaints, and/or quality trends.
· Interacts with customers and supplier representatives on quality issues.
· Determine root cause and corrective action for quality or process issues.
· Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
· Contribute to the company's continuous quality improvement and cost reduction programs.
· Support product manufacturing, process engineering, and new product development. This could include analyzing process flows, methods of manufacturing, and new procedures.
· May assist Manager or other managers in other duties or special products as needed.

Qualifications
· This position requires the individual to have a bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related field from a four-year college or university with a minimum of 5 years’ related manufacturing experience; or CQE designation with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or quality.
· Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
· Previous experience with ISO 9001, QS 9000, and/or IATF 16949 standards and its requirements.
· Experience in Quality System tools such as advanced quality planning (APQP), FMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, Gage R&R, and Capability Studies are required.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Experience with measuring devices (CMM, micrometers, calipers, height gauge, tape measures).
· Hands-on experience creating and/or updating quality documentation such as work instructions, inspection standards, test procedures, etc.
Preferences
· Professional certificates relevant to position.
· Prior Project Management experience.
· Prior experience with automotive quality tools such as APQP, PPAP and 8D.
· Working understanding of other quality systems and quality standards, such as TS, Lean, etc.
· Prior experience with metals or manufacturing.
· Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar ERP (enterprise resource planning).
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Supervises and gives direction to the quality team, which includes handling of timecard approvals and disciplinary occurrences.
· Site champion for corporate quality initiatives.
· QMS management.
· Organizing and attending site-specific quality meetings.
