Automotive Claims Specialist - Bend, Oregon

If you have a track record for meticulous claim handling and have a keen eye for detail, we want you on our team. Your expertise will not only help resolve claims efficiently but also contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and services.

    What You Get to Do!

As a Claims Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our team by investigating, analyzing, and processing a wide range of property damage and minor bodily injury claims. This position involves direct interaction with third-party claimants and our stores, ensuring efficient and fair claim resolution.

    • Claim Management: Take charge of managing, assessing, and adjusting property damage claims. This includes conducting interviews, determining liability, researching, and analyzing information, and preparing settlement offers or denials. You'll negotiate settlements with claimants, insurance companies, and attorneys, documenting all outcomes and pursuing subrogation and restitution for the company.

    • Support and Advice: Provide essential support and guidance to store managers on claim processes, from documentation to liability analysis. You'll be responsible for creating new incidents/claims in the Riskonnect Claim Management System and handling a selection of after-hours calls on a rotational basis.

    • Bodily Injury Claims: Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle bodily injury claims up to $50,000. This involves collecting medical records, recommending experts/vendors for claim evaluation, and working with attorneys to resolve claims, including managing litigated claims with defense counsel as needed.

    What You Will Bring:

    • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of property and casualty claim handling experience. Completion of insurance claim-specific courses is also preferred.

    • Strong knowledge of automotive design, function, and repair, including brakes, alignment, and suspension.

    • Advanced understanding of legal liability principles and the litigation process related to property and casualty claims.

    • Excellent grasp of medical terminology, management, injury causation, and treatment practices.

    • Proficient in the use of the risk management information system (STARS) and intermediate skills in MS Word.

    • Passion for the work you do and the people you do it with!
