Mr Chips, Inc. is currently recruiting for an experienced Operations Supervisor at the Macon, GA facility.
Responsible for planning, coordinating, directing and implementing all manufacturing, receiving, warehousing, shipping, purchasing, food safety, quality assurance, R&D, sanitation and pest control functions. Operations Manager is fully responsible for the oversight and management of the plant. This includes day-to-day operations, coordination of the scheduling, plan-checking, acquisition of permits, inspections, installations, services and all plant and tank yard activities. Knowledge of food production is a must.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assures that every aspect pertaining to the manufacturing of Mr. Chip’s Inc. products meets regulatory requirements and is within the guidelines established by company policy.
- Formulate strategic and operational objectives by finding ways to increase quality of customer service while simultaneously recruiting, training and supervising team members.
- Acts as the company champion for food safety and quality (under the guidance of the Safe Quality Foods [SQF] requirements), for food defense, for employee safety and sustainability.
- Acts as the Crisis Management Coordinator, if needed.
- Manage relationship with the customer to schedule and coordinate for audits.
- Organizational skills and the flexibility to jump from priority to priority, which are essential to a role that juggles a variety of functions and projects.
- Meet with employees one-on-one to provide continual coaching and evaluation of the processes and procedures. Monitoring day-to-day work of employees to ensure adherence and compliance.
- Ensures all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way.
- Working directly with VP Operations to ensure projects are handled as multiply projects at any given time.
- Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices.
- Help to ensure the organization’s processes remain legally compliant.
- Coordinates with Sales and R&D to develop and implement new products, product improvements and cost savings.
- Coordinates with Maintenance and Engineering to develop and implement new or improved processes.
- Defines the operating and inventory parameters for all new and existing products to assure efficiency and profitability, including warehousing and shipping.
- Acts as the purchasing function to order ingredients, supplies and equipment.
- As a member of the Food Safety/HACCP Team, assures that root cause analysis and corrective actions, as defined by the HACCP team, are completed.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, meeting with customers and suppliers and establishing personal networks.
- Along with Sales and Quality Assurance respond to customer issues, providing input for corrective and preventive actions to the Operations and Food Safety Team.
Education/Experience/Capabilities Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operational Management or related experience.
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in the food industry, with high level management responsibilities.
- Must have excellent communication skills including written and verbal.
- Organizational skills and the flexibility to jump from priority to priority, which are essential to a role that juggles a variety of functions and projects.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Strong personal and professional judgement, which are invaluable skills for a role that makes hiring decisions as well as in finding the best solution to organizational dilemmas.
- Problem-Solving Skills and Interpersonal Skills – an Operations Manager must communicate with both executives and staff employees in order to create and administer policy.
- Experience with business and financial principles, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is a must.
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
- Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong analytical ability required to effectively communicate with all levels of employees, management and customers.
- A thorough understanding of financial and budgeting processes and principles, which allows the Operations Manager to assess the company’s earnings and spending to find areas for improvement.
