    Summary

    Programs, sets-up and operates computer numerical control (CNC) Vertical Mills to perform machine functions.

    Position Requirements

    Must be able to read and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, layout, job order and related technical data for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines setup procedures, control settings, material requirements, machining methods and sequence of operations. High school education or its equal may be waived at company discretion. Knowledge of math used in manufacturing, and of simple gages preferred. This is a physically demanding position requiring moderately heavy lifting, dexterity and good mechanical skills. Must have a good attendance and clean safety record.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operations.
    • Selects, positions, and secures tool in toolholder (chuck, collet, or toolpost).
    • Positions and secures workpiece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
    • Moves controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
    • Sets up fixture, starts machine, and turns handwheel to feed tool to workpiece or vice versa, and engages feed.
    • Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.
    • Inspects first run piece and spot checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications (including documentation of results).
    • Extensive Knowledge of Mastercam programming
    • Knowledge of G and M codes
    • Knowledge of G D and T blueprint reading
    • Knowledge of 3 and 4 Axis Machining Center
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Operate machines to produce the required quantity of good quality parts to meet production standards.
    • Visual inspection of parts during production cycle of equipment.
    • Operation of CNC mills and lathes helpful.
    • Ability to multitask between programming, setup, and verifying part quality.
    • Follow all ISO 9001 Requirements, Safety, Policies and Procedures
    • While performing the duties of this job, all ppe must be worn at all times while on the shop floor.
    • Keep work area clean and orderly.
    • Perform other associated duties as needed to continue the operation of the department in the most productive and efficient manner.
