  • POSITION SUMMARY 

    The Workshop Programmer provides expertise and strategic vision for the creation of presenter led programming that ensures Kripalu is the continued leader within the market of yoga, education and wellness.  Research, understand and predict industry trends and competition; cultivate new presenters and themes; develop collaborative business partnerships and relationships with presenters, publishers, agents, and internal partners.  The Workshop Programmer schedules and facilitates the development and booking of dynamic programs that embody the mission and values of Kripalu.  

    The ideal candidate is well connected and well-versed on topics in the area of spirituality, health, wellness & yoga. This individual understands how to balance both organizational growth and needs with market trends and presenter and guest satisfaction.   

    ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Responsible for booking mission-aligned programs that keep department on track with budget targets.    
    • Contribute to team design of a best-in-class curriculum with developmental pathways across all program areas and formats.     
    • Curate a programming portfolio that elevates diverse voices and reflects Kripalu’s commitment to “me and we” and Kripalu programming.    
    • Screen prospective presenters and program concepts by determining mission-alignment, strategic alignment, presenter expertise and teaching experience, and national/international recognition.   
    • Cultivate and manage approved presenter relationships with discernment, to advocate win/win solutions on behalf of both Kripalu and the presenter.    
    • Schedule program dates and manage sensitive negotiations, legal issues, faculty honoraria, benefits and cancellations with support of Senior Workshop Programmers, Manager, and Director.   
    • Responsible in tracking program data in order to ensure successful promotion, registration, and delivery of programs.  
    • Partner with marketing to proof program descriptions for all promotional materials. 
    • Some knowledge or familiarity in budgeting and financial analysis preferably in non-profits.    
    • Partner with Creative Strategy & Programming team to execute strategic plan.    
    • Contribute to ideation and thinking around and plan that elevates Kripalu’s Faculty as field leaders and brand ambassadors.    
    • Support the creative strategy & program teams’ vision to build, grow, and deepen connections with the entire Kripalu community, including Kripalu’s alumni and Luminary presenters.     
    • Bring creative and curatorial lens to proposing new leads and program concepts.    
    • Faculty liaison: meet with presenters when in-house; develop a personal relationship; advocate for their needs, promotion, etc.   
    • Additional duties may be assigned by the manager or department head as necessary.

    MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Bachelor’s degree or related experience.   
    • Experience and knowledge of experiential programming, education, or transformational industry; knowledge of key teachers and authors.     
    • Additional trainings and Certifications   
    • Proficiency in MS Office products and Internet research, as well as the ability to learn in-house technical applications.
