Job description
1. Perform specimen receiving, accessioning, and processing from submitting agencies including proficiency testing providers following the laboratory’s SOP. Processes specimens in a timely and error-free fashion, within one day of receipt. Identifies and rejects LEDT specimens that fail acceptance criteria.
2. Collects and prepare samples to be sent out to reference laboratories for analysis. Prepares specimen aliquots and required paperwork in a timely and error-free fashion, within one day of receiving an assignment.
3. Maintains specimen storage area. Maintains the storage area in an organized fashion. Under supervision, identifies and discards old specimens at least twice per year.
4. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and observe proper laboratory safety policy.
5. Maintains inventory of supplies. Ensures that routinely used supplies are properly stocked. Orders supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock.
6. Maintains specimen receiving laboratory cleanliness. Ensures that all work areas are kept clean. Disinfects work area on a daily basis.
Performs other duties as needed. Assists supervisor and laboratory management with other duties.
