The Client Services Receptionist position supports and adds value to Frankling Veterinary Clinic dedicated to quality care and exceptional service. You will perform a variety of clerical and customer service work in providing support to the clinic and to clients/patients during often high stress situations.

What we expect from you:

• You are always offering a friendly smile, strong eye contact and an approachable demeanor
• You speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone in a way that clients easily understand
• You will assess immediately upon arrival each client’s rare need, as well as the pet’s general condition
• Identify potential emergencies in person, and over the phone, and schedule those appointments appropriately.
• You are responsible for confirming all appointments in advance, ensuring clients receive accurate information about preparing their pet for the appointment
• Coordinate the flow of pets and owners in the lobby; placates owners distressed by long waits, scheduling glitches, and other problems.
• You serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains by ensuring a complete, accurate, and compassionate process
• You must be compassionate and possess the ability to actively listen with empathy, kindness and concern at all times
• Responds to inquiries about the range of services the practice provides and the species it treats; refer to appropriate department/staff member as needed.
• Become familiar with retail products, medications, vaccinations, routine testing, and heartworm and flea preventatives and be able to confidently discuss with clients.
• You must be flexible in attitude and work habits as well as adaptable to different personalities in both co-workers and clients
• You must be able to quickly learn how to pronounce, know the meaning of and correctly spell commonly used Veterinary terms
• This position requires the ability to sit, walk, squat, bend, stand, reach, lift and type constantly for a minimum of 8 hours a day.

· May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces

· May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases

· Animal areas may be humid, noisy, and odorous

· Exposure to pests such as fleas and ticks and other zoonotic diseases

· While handling animals, there is a possibility of being bitten or scratched

· Dust and pet dander are common within the practice

· Dependable attendance is required

Experience:

• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Good critical thinking and problem solving skills
