    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Primary purpose:

    Responsible for the generation of new business/revenue and maintenance of the existing business/revenue on the existing Tallgrass interstate natural gas pipelines and storage assets which includes contracting and renewing customers for firm and interruptible services, customer support, and research and analysis.

     

    Essential duties and responsibilities:

    • Analyzes U.S. supply/demand fundamentals.
    • Analyzes pricing and market trends in various regions across the country.
    • Evaluates contracted capacity and flows on third party pipelines and storage assets.
    • Provides support to the Commercial group regarding pertinent pricing and market trends.
    • Analyzes the potential market opportunity for a variety of commercial functions, including commodity sales/purchases, transportation, storage, park and loans, etc.
    • Supports the monetization of commodity recovery function of the commercial group.
    • Executes short-term physical and financial transactions as needed.
    • Actively maintains an awareness of changing market conditions, new developments, and competitor strategies.
    • Evaluates and disseminates market intelligence to draw conclusions on potential market strategies and present these conclusions to management.
    • Review fundamental market evaluation and analysis provided by the Market Analytics team.
    • Tracks sales performance by market and product lines.
    • Communicate with customers (current and prospective) on a regular and consistent basis to understand needs and ensure they are satisfied with the services provided by the Company.  Topics include:
      1. Contracting for firm and interruptible storage services, discount requests, invoice disputes, operational issues, invoice review, rollovers/right of first refusal process, contract assignments, maintenance impacts and document control.
    • Renew existing business on the interstate pipelines and storage facilities.
    • Provide support or complete Business Development needs as directed.
    • Identify and optimize Park and Loan opportunities.
    • Prepare and conduct open seasons.
    • Understand customer utilizations of Tallgrass services to understand customer business and uncover business opportunities.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
    • Exercise decision making authority when needed and assess the level of decisions that can be made versus those that should be brought to upper management.
    • Set self-imposed deadlines and communicate to management and demonstrate ownership in assigned projects and resolution of customer maintenance issues.
    • Ensure that all issues and projects receive the appropriate level of urgency within own workload and that of others involved in the matter.
    • Work with internal departments including but not limited to business development, scheduling, gas control, system design, project management, regulatory, legal, and environmental.
    • Develop presentations for customers and management.
    • Understand third party pipeline services and projects and actively develop/pursue new business opportunities and strategy.
    • Bring new, creative growth to the assets.
    • Communicate with management on goals and objectives as requested.
    • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
    • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
    • Must demonstrate intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (examples include economic or financial models, forecasting etc.)
    • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
    • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
    • Will travel as needed.
    • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
    • Other daily, weekly, monthly, or special project duties as identified and defined.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    JOB REQUIREMENTS:


    Minimum requirements:

     

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

     

    Experience/Specific Knowledge:

    • Minimum ten (10) years of experience actively working in the oil and natural gas industry.
    • Must have previous working knowledge of FERC natural gas regulations.
    • Must have working knowledge of the North American natural gas infrastructure and pipelines.
    • Must have working knowledge of the North American natural gas markets.
    • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

    Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

     

    Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

    • Must have a high desire to understand utilization of Tallgrass assets and how they are impacted by industry dynamics.
    • Must possess a strong and creative negotiation skillset.
    • Must be a highly motivated individual that requires minimal supervision to accomplish goals.
    • Must be able to perform data and research analysis, draw a conclusion from the analysis, present and support the conclusion.
    • Must have good verbal skills, listening skills and be able to problem-solve.
    • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
    • Must be able to work with a team in a collaborative fashion, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
    • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.
    • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate.

    • Occasional travel is anticipated and required.
    • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

    Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:

    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Power BI
    • Previous trading and/or origination/business development experience.
    • Previous experience in the natural gas industry.
    • Transactional experience with natural gas pipelines, producers, storage, and end users.

    Familiar with Tallgrass interstate natural gas and storage assets.
