    The Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) is looking for a Receptionist to work in our community-based animal clinic.

    Position Overview
    Maintain the visual appearance of the clinic?s waiting room and reception area, greet and welcome clients and patients, answer questions and triage client concerns, answer calls on a multi-line phone system or emails and direct to the appropriate party for resolution, schedule appointments to maximize efficiency and daily flow, check in and check out clients and process payments. The Clinic Receptionist operates under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager and specializes in providing excellent customer service.

    The following describes the essential functions of this job and its scope of responsibility. It should not be considered a complete list of work requirements.     Provide superior customer service.
    Operate computer systems, multi phone line systems and clinic software to verify and enter client and patient information including scheduling, appointments, follow up care and billing.
    Answers basic questions regarding clinic services, fees, and animal care.
    Utilize effective listening to understand client?s needs.
    Educate clients on preventive medicine. microchipping services and vaccination requirements.
    Assist other health care team members in cleaning and straightening the public areas of the practice, including the front desk, reception area, exam rooms and restrooms.
    Stocks food and other retail inventory in client waiting areas.

    Cross Training ? Selected candidate will be cross trained as a Veterinary Assistant to offer support to the technical staff in day-to-day technician duties.
    Comply with all policies and procedures as described in the Humane Society of Sarasota County handbook.
    Other duties may be assigned, based on company needs.
    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge of the procedures involved in receiving, treating, and scheduling patients.
    Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in the full variety of treatments, to prepare and provide ?tableside? assistance.
    Ability to show empathy towards clients and their pets.
    Ability to improve upon veterinary knowledge and skills by participating in continuing education, staff meetings, and in-house training.
    Serve as a representative of the clinic, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, patients, and other members of the clinic staff.
    Demonstrate initiative and teamwork in everyday duties by seeking other work during slow times, assisting other employees within the practice, and filling in for other employees as needed.
    Create a culture of embracing volunteerism, emphasizing the importance of volunteers in all aspects of the organization.
    Must adhere to HSSC Client Experience Guidelines that are set forth to remove bias and barriers and establish our organization as a resource to our community.
    Minimum 1-year prior receptionist, customer service, and veterinary technician assistance experience.
    Bilingual preferred.
    Fear Free Certification preferred.
    Work Schedule

    Full-time, 40 hours per week. Work schedule may vary and include weekends and holidays. Schedule is subject to change.

    Physical Requirements
    Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, talk, and listen.
    May be required to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
    Use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and type on keyboard repetitively.
    Reach with hands and arms in various directions.
    The employee is often required to lift and carry animals weighing 50 pounds or more and handle dogs weighing up to 120 pounds.
