Provides guidance to the institutional ethics committee pertaining to policy formulation and educational and case review activities. Being a Clinical Ethicist develops institutional policies concerning ethical issues such as "do-not-resuscitate" and "withdrawal of life-support". Requires a master's degree or doctorate related to health ethics. Additionally, Clinical Ethicist typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Nurse Director Med Surg will step into a family-oriented work environment in this Healthsystem Medical Center. The facility boasts 200 beds and a Level IV Trauma Center. This Joint Commission Certified Medical Center sees 2500 inpatient admissions come through its doors yearly under the leadership of the Nurse Director Med Surg.
Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nurse Director leads an experienced group of RNs, Techs, and CNAs to provide exceptional patient care to members of the community and surrounding areas. They will be supported by strong Charge Nurses and a tenured Nurse Manager.
Serving 50 FTEs, continuing a teamwork-centered environment will be at the forefront of the Nurse Director Med Surg’s to-do list. As a team, they will provide high quality patient care to 25 beds. The department is well-supported by an expert team of hospitalists and the Medical Director as well as state-of-the-art medical equipment to treat any illness/injury that comes through the doors.
The Nurse Director Med Surg is responsible for determining organizational and departmental issues, planning to correct the issue, and implementing that plan into action for the benefit of the patients and staff. This Nurse Director will use their leadership experience to effectively staff, budget, and remain compliant with The Joint Commission Standards in order to successfully run the department.
