Being a Clinical Ethicist develops institutional policies concerning ethical issues such as "do-not-resuscitate" and "withdrawal of life-support". Requires a master's degree or doctorate related to health ethics. Additionally, Clinical Ethicist typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Clinical Ethicist typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. The Nurse Director Emergency Department and ICU will oversee the daily operations of an extremely busy 20 emergency department, which last year saw over 35,000 patient visits, and a 15 bed ICU. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Acute Care Services Director is supported by 4 nurse managers as well as tenured clinical supervisors and charge nurses.
The Nurse Director of Emergency Services will maintain the 24-hour responsibility of a busy ER. The Emergency Nurse Director will collaborate with 15 physicians board certified in Emergency Medicine, along with nurse Practitioners, nurses, educators, clinical coordinators and case manager.
The Acute Care Services Nurse Director will work closely with staff to coordinate and oversee continuing education and in-service trainings and will review policies and procedures to ensure best practices in patient safety and performance improvement.
The Emergency and Critical Care Nurse Nurse Director ER will collaborate with the Infection control committee as well as the Quality Coordinator to ensure best practices and patient satisfaction. The Emergency Services Nurse Director ER will be responsible supervision of the department, treating any immediate medical or surgical emergencies and for providing other chronic medical problems, minor injuries or illness.
