Being a Clinical Ethicist develops institutional policies concerning ethical issues such as "do-not-resuscitate" and "withdrawal of life-support". Requires a master's degree or doctorate related to health ethics. Additionally, Clinical Ethicist typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Clinical Ethicist typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. The Clinical Director, Neuro ICU is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Neuro ICU Department with full, 24-hour accountability of the 42 bed unit and 60 team members. The Neuro ICU Director reports to the Senior Director, Vice President and/or the Chief Nursing Officer. The Neuro ICU Director is responsible for management of patient care in each of his/her units, for promoting the practice of professional nursing in a specified patient care area, and for the acquisition, development, and utilization of resources (human and material) needed to fulfill those responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse (and active licensure to practice in Texas) with 3 yrs of recent RN acute critical care experience and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). Prior managerial/supervisory critical care experience and knowledge of the latest advancements in neurocritical care.
