    About the Role

    Reporting to the Senior Director of Data and Bioinformatics, the Clinical Informatics Lead is responsible for leveraging their oncology clinical subject matter expertise, clinical science, and informatics principles to create, expand, and continuously improve Mendel's clinical AI suite. The position requires the analysis of complex clinical data problems to continuously improve the quality and validity of clinical AI resources and data to enhance Mendel AI products and tools as required. This position works closely with the entire clinical, AI, product, and delivery teams.

    You Will:

    • Applies both clinical and informatics expertise to ensure high-quality data, clinical models, and AI technology that deliver superior value to Mendel customers
    • I am responsible for clinically leading and continuously improving ontologies, annotated training data, and other clinical algorithms used to power Mendel clinical AI solutions.
    • Responsible for addressing complex clinical data challenges by leveraging relevant science, external data, and resources and performing in-depth clinical data analysis
    • Interrogates clinical data normalization, standardization, Mendel data models, ontologies, and other clinical tools for clinical quality and sufficiency to ensure Mendel data and products align with the highest quality healthcare industry and real-world data standards
    • Stays up-to-date with clinical oncology practice standards, oncology industry trends, and changes; proactively identifies opportunities to improve Mendel data models, ontologies, training and annotations, and other related clinical AI components.
    • Scans for and investigate new clinical oncology information, scientific knowledge, clinical informatics, and regulatory changes as relevant to Mendel
    • Supports Mendel leadership by providing clinical representation for the organization to prospective customers, partners, and stakeholders
    • Provides clinical guidance to guide organizational strategy, product development, AI development, and product quality improvement

    You Have:

    • Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related healthcare field, Advanced practice degree for NPs/PAs, or MD/DO Degree for Physicians
    • Professional oncology practice certification (e.g., ABIM oncology subspecialty certification for physicians, OCN for nurses).
    • Active, unencumbered state license relevant to highest clinical degree (U.S.)
    • A minimum of eight (8) years relevant clinical experience (hospital or ambulatory setting), with at least five (5)years in the oncology care setting.
    • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in clinical informatics, clinical data quality, health information technology, or a similar field is required. Five (5) years is preferred.
    • Strong familiarity with the fundamentals of oncology practice, clinical operations, and electronic health record systems
    • Experience working with HIPAA-compliant healthcare technology
    • Excellent skills in essential Office 365 applications and willingness to learn new software and tools as needed.
    • Consistently exhibits strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop practical solutions. Strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and soft interpersonal skills with the ability to speak to diverse audiences
    • Effectively conveys essential knowledge of cancer disease processes, diagnostics, therapeutics, and other clinical data concepts.
    • Strong skills in analyzing, researching, and synthesizing large amounts of information
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to adapt to change
    • Self-starter attitude with a willingness to take initiative to drive improvements continuously.

    Nice to Have:

    • Master's degree in bioinformatics, healthcare informatics, data science, artificial intelligence, etc.
    • Specialized clinical and scientific expertise relevant to clinical oncology data, such as prior experience with real-world datasets, designing clinical algorithms or clinical phenotypes, or creating other complex logic using oncology data
    • Proficiency in healthcare data and interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, SNOMED, RxNorm).
    • Oncology clinical research/clinical trial operations experience
    • Familiarity with standard data analysis tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R)
    • Experience with SQL, relational databases, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker)
    • Familiarity with large language models and symbolic AI systems
    • Familiarity with the basic principles, practices, and policies related to biomedical research and protection of human subjects

    Compensation

    $170,000 - $190,000
