Sawtooth Mountain Clinic is looking for an organized and independent, yet team-oriented, person to join our Health Information/Medical Records team.

Job Summary:

Compile, process, and maintain medical records of Sawtooth Mountain Clinic in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of HRSA.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Protect the security of medical records, both paper and electronic, to ensure that confidentiality is maintained and patient’s rights are protected
• Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations
• Support physicians by transcribing medical reports and letters and requesting health information when needed for continuation of care
• Maintain an active data base by entering data, such as demographic characteristics, history and extent of disease, diagnostic procedures, or treatment into electronic health record
• Retrieve patient medical records from other health care facilities and / or organizations to create a complete and accurate electronic health record
• Facilitate patient referral appointments by sending records prior to appointment and ensuring we receive health records from those referrals
• Release information to persons or agencies according to regulations
• Complete Death Certificates
• Scan and reconcile outside reports into the electronic health record in a timely manner
• Create and update work flows as needed
• Individual projects and responsibilities according to the needs of the Health Information Department
• All other duties as directed and / or requested by the SMC CEO, Providers, Health Information Department Manager, and Health Care Home Team.

Job Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Health Information Technology or similar working experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and organization skills
• Experience in Electronic Health Records
• Knowledge of medical terminology
