Clinical Information System Specialist provides on-site technical support to clinicians to ensure the proper and effective use of clinical information systems and improve the delivery of patient care. Assists users with system navigation, troubleshooting and patient monitoring issues. Being a Clinical Information System Specialist collaborates with leaders across functions and disciplines to plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical systems and services. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Clinical Information System Specialist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Clinical Information System Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Provides health information and support services to the Seneca Nation Health System (SNHS) for the delivery of patient care and associated healthcare services. Ensures the integrity of the electronic medical record (EMR) and monitors documentation. Processes requests for protected health information (PHI) according to accepted privacy standards, security standards, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act.
Job qualification
High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of Associates Degree in Medical Records Management preferred. Minimum two (2) years’ experience. Must have knowledge of medical terminology and the International Classification of Disease Systems.
