Clinical Information System Specialist provides on-site technical support to clinicians to ensure the proper and effective use of clinical information systems and improve the delivery of patient care. Assists users with system navigation, troubleshooting and patient monitoring issues. Being a Clinical Information System Specialist collaborates with leaders across functions and disciplines to plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical systems and services. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Clinical Information System Specialist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Clinical Information System Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Completes data abstraction for regulatory agencies, executive reporting, and billing services.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:- Abstracting and entering HBIPS data on recent inpatient discharges
- Abstracting data for Vericle Billing and other projects as designated
- Auditing patient charts for quality improvement and regulatory projects
- Provides general administrative support to health information including:
- Processing after-discharge requests for information
- Pulling and filing medical records
- Scanning inactive medical records for all PrairieCare’s sites, and covering as needed in the other PrairieCare sites
- Provides general administrative support to the HIS Supervisor and department as needed
- This position requires a minium of a 2 year degree
- Minimum of 2 years of health information services experience and/or a Registered Health Information Technician designation
- Demonstrates proficiency and ability to actively improve processes that relate to patient care support
- Proficient technical skills using a variety of HIS specific and non-specific hardware and software applications, including EHRs, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Vericle Billing.
