Summary:
Manages product development activities of specific applications including process improvement, workflow analysis, system analysis, systems design, and programming in the design and development of new systems or revisions to existing systems. Collaborates with IT Leadership and business partners.
Oversees large-scale projects from conception to completion. Provides planning, consultation, and advisory services on systems development in collaboration with IT Leadership and business partners. Reviews completed work and work in progress for completeness, efficiency, accuracy and adherence to system standards. Participates in end-user monitoring and desired outcomes, and makes recommendations for new opportunities that meet business needs. Aligns with operational peers and is aware of business customers concerns, goals, and objectives.
Ability to identify and collaborate with customers to determine future needs and strategically plan deployments. Participates in contracting and budgetary processes. Oversees employee management activities including recruiting, selecting, orienting, coaching, and evaluating department employees. Trains develops, counsels, disciplines, and if necessary, recommends dismissal. Recommends promotions and transfers.
- Provides and/or arranges support for all critical applications. Provides leadership and direction to staff by providing technical and management guidance and assistance to systems. Manages bi-weekly assessment/status meetings with all departments to ensure superior customer service is being delivered and to understand user requirements and expectations.
- Cross-trains analysts, senior analysts, database administrators and senior database administrators. Ensures modifications and customizations are well-documented and communicated to all internal and external customers.
- Meets with business areas to establish priorities and schedules for application development projects and planning the level of resources needed to complete project necessary to meet departmental business objectives. Coordinates application requests and system upgrade schedules with departments.
- Implements outcomes from designated systems work teams. Coordinates and initiates system design, testing and system implementation, and quality assurance that desired outcome was achieved; completes implementation follow-up as required. Identifies potential software related problems or related activities that would prohibit successful implementation and provides recommended solutions for resolution or future direction.
- Develops, updates, and implements application standards, documentation and policies, SHS security policy, and HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Coordinates within assigned IT &S area project related assignments, including project plans, schedules, requirements, tasks, and work assignments. Assigns resources and tracks project milestones and timelines. Communicates project status and issues to all involved with the project and appropriately escalates issues in a timely manner.
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor’s degree in clinical / business field (nursing, pharmacy, medical, etc) or closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
b. Clinical / Business-related courses preferred
2. Experience and Training Required:
a. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in clinical/business system management and acute healthcare services which has included two (2) years in a leadership role.
b. Certifications in clinical informatics, project management, or usability studies preferred.
c. Will be required to certify in one or more (Epic) applications, and maintain certification.
d. EpicCare Inpatient or Ambulatory certification preferred.

e. Ability to understand the application functionality and how it relates to departments while making recommendations for integration into operational flow
f. Knowledge and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, e-mail, and scheduling applications
g. Ability to work well within team environment by: accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback; supporting team goals and encouraging other team members; and collaborating with departmental team members to consolidate work, solve problems, create new methods, and/or reduce costs
h. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, and financial records
4. Level of Physical Demands:
