Clinical Information Systems Director directs and coordinates implementation, design, and maintenance of clinical nursing information systems used to improve nursing operations. Conducts analysis to understand the needs of nursing staff and develop systems and strategy that supports and optimizes patient care and aligns with organizational objectives. Being a Clinical Information Systems Director researches and evaluates new technologies and tools used to provide new sources of data and streamline nursing practices. Plans the implementation, communication, and training for new technology deployments. Additionally, Clinical Information Systems Director requires a master's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to top management. The Clinical Information Systems Director manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments.     Responsibilities

    The Systems Director, Information Technology will play a pivotal role in driving technological advancements and maintaining a reliable IT environment to support Grand View Health's growth and success. This hands-on, technical, operations-centered IT role will focus on the "run" aspect of IT, analyzing existing infrastructure to improve the reliability and customer service aspects of IT. The Systems Director will have the critical thinking skills to apply technology to streamline processes and create efficiencies in the organization. In the absence of the CIO, the Systems Director will serve in the capacity of the CIO role.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Analytics
      • Create Analytics Steering Committee.
      • Create a common platform of definitions, standards and reports.
      • Design and lead implementation of data and technology user support strategies and tools for the workforce that drive continuous improvement, measure impact and share results.
    • Security and Privacy
      • Develop strategies to improve privacy and security. Maintain constant vigilance to current and possible future risks.
      • Ensure the integrity of data and information assets are secure from possible threats and adhere to relevant data protection regulations.
      • Ensure business continuity plan as contingency plan for downtime and business interruption.
    • Communication/Marketing
      • Develop communication strategy to inform use of technology, as well as updates, downtimes and other interruptions in service.
      • Create reference tools for support across areas of IT and cross-training.
      • Create a culture of inclusion and communication so that the needs of all staff at all levels impact the IT strategy.
    • Project Management and Team Development Successes
      • Monitor system performance, security and reliability, implementing measures to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
      • Identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising on the quality and performance of IT services.
      • Lead change management activities on new technology adoption and work with key stakeholders to understand and manage expectations and provide technical consultation.
      • Effectively manage IT budget and IT projects ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to required quality standards. Set IT department KPIs and measure on a regular basis.
      • Optimize use of MEDITECH EHR and other software products.
    • Strategy and Leadership
      • Understand how patient care, business and workflow processes are impacted by technology decisions. Identify and prioritize IT needs and develop and implement IT strategies.
      • Create and update IT policies and procedures based on industry best practices.
      • Encourage/promote utilization of technology when appropriate and cost-effective.
      • Serve as an internal consultant and strategic advisor to the CIO and other leaders on information technology and related cybersecurity practices.


    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related.
    • Fifteen or more years of total experience in clinical IT and business/industry, including five to seven years of progressively increasing leadership.
    • Five or more years of relevant experience, including, but not limited to, business/industry, managing multiple, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key decision makers.
    • Extensive experience in managing infrastructure.
    • Demonstrated experience in resource management and information management privacy and security.
    • Strong team development and mentoring experience.
    • Strong background in data and project governance.
    • Experience with EMR, financial systems, medical records and other clinical technology.
