  • Job Title:Information Technology Systems Director Location:District/Information Technology Systems Job Group:Support Staff, Non-Union Pay Level:Exempt, Grade 43 Reports To:Executive Director of Learning Summary: The Information Technology Systems Director is responsible for computer and technology related research, development, and productivity for the district. The Director manages the work of District IT professionals directly or through subordinates to promote and facilitate access to and monitor the appropriate use of information and technology resources for staff and students. The Director also develops and coordinates departmental services, schedules work requests, budgets, and provides general administration for the Information Technology Systems Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned. Researches, develops, evaluates current and future plans and services for District Information Technology Systems Services. Ensures compliance with the district technology plans and vision. Develops and maintains budget for Information Technology Systems Department, including: Data Management, Network Engineers, Help Desk, and Audio/Visual support. Consults with staff, Executive Director of Learning, and Business Manager about appropriate budget proposals/issues. Advises administrators and staff of federal and state rules, regulations, and mandates regarding the use of technology in schools. Assists in shaping District policies and maintaining compliance. Works with each department and school to develop technology plans for infrastructure and resources that will enhance curriculum, student learning, and administrative support. Prepares and distributes to vendors Requests for Pricing for technology needs for all departments and schools; prepares subsequent orders, accepts delivery and provides for installation. Oversees and manages the use of technology to include, but not limited to: Maintaining a current inventory of computers, peripherals, software licenses, and multimedia equipment. Assisting IT personnel in the selection, installation, and monitoring of equipment and software. Assisting with the planning, selection, and implementation of all new software in the district. Providing users with general assistance, as needed, on how to use, maintain, and/or troubleshoot common hardware and software problems. Manages the District-wide budgeting process for all software and hardware and retains central funding for such products and services. Oversees the district’s Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system and related telephony equipment by: Coordinating with third-party vendors for upgrades, repairs, and replacements and filing support work order requests for repairs and moves for telecommunications, paging systems, and cellular devices. Issuing District telephone numbers, voicemail, cellular equipment, and radios. Maintaining accurate records for all equipment and for E911; provides appropriate training. Programming equipment and troubleshooting equipment concerns, as necessary. Coordinating with the district E-rate consultant to apply for available grant funding (i.e., E911 telecommunications and ECF for remote services), managing contracts for Direct Lines (Fire Alarms, Failover, Panic buttons and elevators), and E-rate filing with USAC (Category I and II). Assists with the negotiation of contracts specific to technology software and services (i.e. Internet Service Providers.) Actively participates in information technology related professional meetings and conferences; including the District Technology Committee and District Crisis Management Committee. Consults with administrators and staff regarding student behavioral issues as they relate to technology. Remains current on current trends in information technology and career-related subject matter by: Attending professional meetings and conferences related to information technology and related subject matter. Reading professional literature and other sources to maintain a high level of expertise in technology integration. Researching emerging technology and integration of such (hardware, software, and peripherals) and recommends applications, enhancements, and solutions. Remaining current with District hardware and software in use including, but not limited to: the student information system, the learning management system, and current operating systems and hardware solutions (i.e.: Chrome books, Apple OS, and Microsoft products.) Attending and participating in all district technology based meetings as needed. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or equivalent licensures/experience preferred. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information from professional journals and periodicals, government regulations and technical documents. Ability to effectively respond to inquiries or complaints from students and staff members. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups, and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Other Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates knowledge, competence and skills in all aspects of current and emerging information technology, including telecommunications access, educational software and hardware. Experience with network management platforms (e.g. Cacti, Nagios). Demonstrates technical competencies in building-based hardware and software. Demonstrated organizational, human relations, and communications skills.
