Clinical Information Systems Director directs and coordinates implementation, design, and maintenance of clinical nursing information systems used to improve nursing operations. Conducts analysis to understand the needs of nursing staff and develop systems and strategy that supports and optimizes patient care and aligns with organizational objectives. Being a Clinical Information Systems Director researches and evaluates new technologies and tools used to provide new sources of data and streamline nursing practices. Plans the implementation, communication, and training for new technology deployments. Additionally, Clinical Information Systems Director requires a master's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to top management. The Clinical Information Systems Director manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. This role will have on-call rotation and off-hours support.
