Clinical Information Systems Director directs and coordinates implementation, design, and maintenance of clinical nursing information systems used to improve nursing operations. Conducts analysis to understand the needs of nursing staff and develop systems and strategy that supports and optimizes patient care and aligns with organizational objectives. Being a Clinical Information Systems Director researches and evaluates new technologies and tools used to provide new sources of data and streamline nursing practices. Plans the implementation, communication, and training for new technology deployments. Additionally, Clinical Information Systems Director requires a master's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to top management. The Clinical Information Systems Director manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments.     Responsibilities
    This position reports to the IT Auxiliary Services Supervisor and provides day to day support of Auxiliary Services technologies to include but not limited to Cardkey, Surveillance, Telesitter Cameras, Infant Abduction, Patient Education & Nurse Call. In addition, the position will provide support Vocera Communications Technology, cellular pocket pagers, paging technology, RFID tags, RFID application support, Secure Text Messaging application support and ongoing maintenance, repair, and replacement of such technologies. This position will be responsible for working daily trouble tickets and new service requests; providing technical analysis and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues. This position will exercise initiative, originality, and judgment in applying established principles and practices to new and unusual problems. Position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work with vendors on a regular basis regarding open issues, downtime notifications, change management technology advancement opportunities, etc. Responsibilities include the coordination of technological requirements of the department and the development of workflow and infrastructure to support the innovation technology roadmap. This position collaborates and communicates with operational, clinical, and other innovation technology departments regarding existing and proposed information technology needs.
    Required Qualifications
    • Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
    • 2 years system administration computer environment including hardware, operating system software and application software.
    • 2 experience around infrastructure and clinical application (Add technologies such as nurse call etc.) support listed, application development, testing, and cloud native developments.
    • 2 years of experience in the selection, installation, support and usage of computer applications and Windows Server-based software or equivalent experience.
    • Experience in managing projects and project teams from inception to completion.
    • Demonstrated high level knowledge of total computer environment including hardware, operating system software and application software.
    • Detailed knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
    • Must have a clear understanding of the role of this technology as it relates to critical patient care environment.
    • Must be a self-starter and can work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to exercise independent judgment and personal initiative and accept responsibility for decisions and actions.
    • Demonstrated high level of knowledge and experience with respect to technologies appropriate to the healthcare, research, and education industry.
    • Ability to integrate the understanding of the department’s goals and objectives, commitments, and projections within a service-oriented healthcare environment
    • Ability to apply advanced problem resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
    • Ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource and to work collaboratively with key personnel and management, providing guidance and recommendations on systems, improvements, upgrades and industry advances and trends.
    • Knowledge of principals of project management
    • Analytical skills required to effectively understand complex networks; to manage administrative, clinical, and fiscal information; and to comprehend such information to make timely and correct decisions. Expertise in documentation and reporting with the ability to apply metrics, plan and implement testing systems, collect, and analyze performance data and produce substantive reports and analyses for management use.
    • Excellent planning skills to analyze goals and objectives given the current and potential projects under development; to make accurate short-and long-term projections; to establish needs and resource requirements.
    • Experience troubleshooting and configuring wired and wireless communication equipment and related computer equipment, including application and operating systems software.
    • Experienced working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
    • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving.
    • Ability to set priorities, organize work to manage multiple requests and meet deadlines. Ability to multi-task.
    • Ability to facilitate/manage meetings, including the development of meeting agendas.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • 2 years’ experience installing configure and maintain servers in a VMware environment including monitoring of system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
    • 2 years’ experience with network system hardware including Routers, Bridges, Switches, Gateways and Hubs; network operating systems including Microsoft Windows Server 2012 & 16 and/or LINUX; fundamentals of the system development life cycles.
    • 2 years’ experience concepts techniques for data modeling and administration; concepts of network protocols including TCP/IP, NetBIOS/NetBEUI and topologies including Ethernet; practices of software/hardware troubleshooting tools such as sniffers, RMON, flukes, and SNMP; concepts of relational and network data base management.
    • Identify and develop opportunities to build compelling proposals to help Aux Services modernization their portfolio and move their workloads into virtual and possibly cloud providers.
    • Experience in Python programming, batch scripting, bash scripts • PowerShell familiarity and execution
    • Experience in Software testing, debugging, setting up of various OS platforms (Windows, Linux, OSX)
