Clinical Nurse Specialist - Home Care assesses a homecare facility's nursing practice and its impact on patient outcomes. Provides clinical direction to nursing staff in the delivery of patient care programs. Being a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Home Care ensures nursing staff maintains an established level of clinical competency. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Clinical Nurse Specialist - Home Care typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires certification as a registered nurse (RN). The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Home Care manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Home Care typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist patients with daily activities such as moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles
- Care for patients by changing bed linens, doing laundry, cleaning the home, or assisting with personal care
- Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with supervisor
- Build relationships with patients by conversing or reading aloud to help keep them mentally healthy and alert
- Give medication reminders
- Engage patients in exercises or other activities
- Graduated from an accredited Home Health Aide program
- High School Diploma or GED
- One-year prior professional experience
- Driver’s license required
- CPR certification preferred
