May require a master's degree in nursing. Additionally, Clinical Nurse Specialist requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Clinical Nurse Specialist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Clinical Nurse Specialist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Responsibilities of the Emergency Room Nurse Manager:

    • Supervise and lead a team of emergency room nurses, ensuring adequate staffing and effective resource allocation
    • Oversee patient admissions, triage, and discharge processes to maintain efficiency and quality of care 
    • Collaborate with physicians, staff, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and streamline operations
    • Implement and enforce hospital policies and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff 
    • Evaluate and manage department budgets, resource allocation, and equipment maintenance 
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and addressing performance gaps and implementing staff development programs

    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing 
    • 3 years of staff experience in the ER 
    • 2 years of recent leadership experience
