Clinical Outcomes Analyst, Sr. collects clinical outcomes data and performs analysis in support of clinical process improvement initiatives. Responsible for gathering advanced data on performance metrics to facilitate the review of program effectiveness. Being a Clinical Outcomes Analyst, Sr. evaluates and summarizes patient data to ensure that care is provided in accordance with clinical guidelines and organizational standards. Identifies areas for improvement and communicates findings to leadership. Additionally, Clinical Outcomes Analyst, Sr. requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related area. May require a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to a manager. The Clinical Outcomes Analyst, Sr. work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     The Clinical Informatics Analyst facilitates the integration of data, information, and knowledge to support patients and clinicians in their decision making, design, education, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and related processes.

    The primary role of the Informaticist is to serve as a “bridge” between clinicians and Information Services (IS). The Informaticist facilitates change and assures optimal use and evolution of healthcare information technology and clinical systems through education and training, quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with the use of information structures, information processes, information technology and organizational goals.

    The Clinical Informatics Analyst strives to provide support to improve the health of populations, communities, families, and individuals by optimizing information management and communication. The Informaticist enhances implementation of all technology affecting patient care.


    Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:

    • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization
    • Utilizes a problem-solving framework that supports all facets of informatics practice, including those without technology, and in all areas of clinical practice
    • Practice structured problem-solving to identify and clarify issues and develop, implement, and evaluate informatics solutions
    • Implement applications, tools, and processes that assist clinicians with the management of data in patient care and the provision of health care
    • Assist with the development of workable implementation plans with regard to change management; communicates changes effectively; builds commitments and overcomes barriers
    • Provide technical support, diagnosis of application and troubleshooting with system issues
    • Interpret, modify, analyze, and design clinical systems, data, and information
    • Research patient data across multiple applications to resolve discrepancies and/or improve workflow
    • Work with other members of the team to implement solutions to system related problems to minimize operational impact
    • Follows established change management processes prior to conduction testing to validate functionality in a TEST environment
    • Provides written documentation solutions in the Information Services HelpDesk application
    • Works collaboratively with Administration, Quality, Physicians, and other clinical Staff to ensure high quality patient care, accurate and timely quality reporting
    • Works cooperatively with IT Education in the training, education, and instruction of clinical users on the features, operation, and usage of software systems and in the use of technology in clinical areas and ancillary services
    • Monitors and reports quality data as related to the EMR and clinical software applications
    • Assists in the development of policies and procedures that are required to implement and maintain clinical applications with the focus on patient safety
    • Follows industry best practices and regulatory guidelines to protect confidentiality, integrity and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data
    • Displays proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the SHINE Behavior Standards

    Secondary Functions:

    • Participates in Informatics User groups and on inter-departmental teams focused on effective use of Information Technology in clinical areas and ancillary services
    • Participates in departmental and hospital-wide information meetings and in-services, including staff meetings and seminars.
    • May be required to travel occasionally to attend meetings, workshops and/or conferences outside of normal business hours
    • Reviews department and hospitalwide policies and procedures annually.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    • The ability to work a flexible schedule; including evenings and weekends when necessary to complete tasks
    • Participate in after hours on-call rotation
    • Must focus on providing excellent customer service to end users
    • The ability to interact effectively with clinicians, peers, management, and vendors in a manner that positively represents the organization
    • Must be service oriented and have excellent customer service skills with the experience of working under pressure with precision and accuracy; including written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, professional interpersonal skills, time management skills, critical thinking skills, judgment skills, and the ability to prioritize work, conflict resolutions skills, and telephone etiquette
    • Displays a willingness to independently solve issues, make decisions or seek direction from Director/Manager
    • Demonstrate understanding of how clinicians would maximize the use of the EMR in rendering quality patient care and analysis of information
    • Utilizes communication skills and attention to detail, with effective follow-through and commitment to excellence, as well as the ability to provide clear and accurate directions
    • The ability to cope with rapidly changing priorities and continual backlog of work
    • Basic computer skills are required including; typing, use of Microsoft Office, email, computers, printers, etc.
    • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

    Education and/or Experience: Clinical Informatics I

    • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
    • Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree in Informatics, Information Technology, or Healthcare (preferred)
    • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in Informatics, Information Technology, or Healthcare (required)
    • Familiarity with process analysis, workflow concepts/documentation (preferred)
    • Background in clinical systems and applications including analysis, support and implementation (preferred) Allscripts Sunrise EMR (preferred)
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (required)

    Education and/or Experience: Clinical Informatics II

    • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
    • Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree in Informatics, Information Technology, or Healthcare (preferred)
    • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in Informatics, Information Technology, or Healthcare (required)
    • Background in clinical and or healthcare information systems; electronic medical record (Allscripts Sunrise) preferred
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (required)
