Clinical Outcomes Director directs in-depth analysis of clinical outcomes data to develop clinical process improvement initiatives. Oversees and leads staff who gather data on performance metrics and facilitates the review of clinical program effectiveness. Being a Clinical Outcomes Director creates, defines, and implements performance metrics to review program effectiveness. Evaluates patient data to ensure that care is provided in accordance with clinical guidelines and organizational standards. Additionally, Clinical Outcomes Director identifies opportunities and provides recommendations to improve program delivery, patient outcomes, and operational efficiency. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related area. May require a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to senior management. The Clinical Outcomes Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Clinical Outcomes Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    The Clinical Education Manager will negotiate, arrange, and evaluate clinical experiences for all students enrolled in the Galen College nursing programs which positively support curriculum outcomes according to organizational mission and values.


    Position Responsibilities

    Clinical Site Development & Support

    • Negotiates and arranges clinical experiences which meet the educational requirements for students in all nursing programs including clinical site development and evaluation, clinical scheduling, and clinical oversight to enhance nursing student experiences in the care of patients.
    • Maintains and monitors clinical contract documentation to ensure that records are current and comply with regulatory standards for clinical experiences.
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with clinical agency representatives to ensure that a variety of clinical practice sites are available for student learning and application of clinical practice.
    • Research and recommend appropriate agencies that meet the identified educational requirements for clinical experiences for nursing students.
    • Coordinates and implements new clinical orientation requirements.
    • Conducts and reviews written evaluations of clinical placements to assess the agencies’ ability to meet educational needs in collaboration with theory and clinical faculty.
    • Attends and supports regular Galen College Advisory Board meetings.
    • Responsible for providing regular updates to campus leadership regarding clinical availability and appropriateness of clinical experiences for both the students and faculty.

    Faculty Development & Support

    • Coordinates placement of faculty in clinical agency sites with input from campus leadership and consistent with curriculum requirements and faculty areas of expertise/credentials.
    • Coordinates and implements new clinical faculty orientation.
    • Conducts routine on-site evaluation of clinical faculty effectiveness in support of student learning and curriculum outcome requirements at least annually.
    • Communicates and coordinates clinical faculty development needs based on documented evaluation analysis.
    • Assists campus leadership to arrange and provide regular communication links between theory and clinical faculty.
    • Maintains an electronic database for the coordination and assignment of faculty workload consistent with curriculum and human resource requirements.

    Student Evaluation & Support

    • Provides problem-solving skills in support of student learning during clinical agency experiences.
    • Conducts and reports follow up evaluations of graduates placed in facilities six months post-graduation.
    • Ensures that proper documentation has been completed regarding each student’s clinical experience.

    Position Requirements

    • Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable State as a Registered Nurse
    • Education: Minimum qualification of an MSN, or in progress, with nursing background and knowledge that includes an understanding of the educational objectives and experiences of student nurses, an understanding of the clinical practice of nursing, knowledge of the diverse organizational environments in which nurses practice, and knowledge of the types of clinical sites needed to meet course content and objectives.
    • Special Qualifications: Three (3) years of recent clinical experience, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to interpret learning experience needs of students and match them to the capabilities of clinical placement agencies, excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to be creative and innovative, and proficient computer skills to collect and analyze data. Have relationships with clinical facilities and professional organizations.
    • Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Ability to sit a computer up to 8 hours per day and visit clinical sites.
    • Degree of Supervision: Minimal
