CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER manages the collection and analysis of clinical outcomes data to develop clinical process improvement initiatives. Oversees staff who gather data on performance metrics and facilitates the review of clinical program effectiveness. Being a CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER provides advanced analyses and reports on clinical outcomes data. Evaluates and summarizes patient data to ensure that care is provided in accordance with clinical guidelines and organizational standards. Additionally, CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER identifies areas for improvement and assists leaders/physicians in developing strategies to improve performance. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related area. May require a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to a director. The CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     What You Will Do

    The Clinical Outcome Specialist reports to the Senior Director of PI and Outcomes and is responsible for serving as the leader for quality, safety standardization and patient outcomes at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Foxboro and within the Perioperative and Procedural environments.

    • Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
    • L2 Procedural Recovery Unit
    • Echocardiology laboratories- Main, Foxboro, 850 Boylston and Westwood campuses
    • Vascular Laboratories – main, Foxboro
    • EKG/External Cardiac Monitoring- main and 850 Boylston
    • BWH Endoscopy Center – main and 850 Boylston campus
    • Cardiac Rehab- Foxboro

    As a member of the leadership team, the candidate will work collaboratively and partner closely with Surgical/Anesthesia/Procedural, nursing, and hospital leadership.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Leading quality and safety operations, patient experience and performance improvement.
    • Participates in development of programs and systems to meet the requirements of TJC, DPH, HCFA and other state and federal regulatory agencies.
    • Designing and implementing clinical outcome dashboards
    • Advance metric development with a focus on achievable outcomes.
    • Develops processes that support the overall vision, mission, direction, goals, and objectives of the Perioperative and Peri-Procedural environments.
    • Identifies areas of opportunities to evaluate, initiate, standardize, and improve systems.
    • Collaborates with key stakeholders to implement systems to improve patient outcomes and maximize efficiency.
    • Works in partnership with staff and representatives from other departments to ensure effective and safe department outcomes.
    • Applies and teaches others about change management techniques, systems thinking methods and data-driven problem-solving skills to promote deeper understanding of system failures and opportunities for improvement.
    • Focus on sustainable quality, safety and conducts report-outs on post- implementation audits.

    Clinical Operations

    • Reviews all Perioperative and Periprocedural safety reports for trends and identifies outcome improvements.
    • Works with data analyst team to build metric and outcome dashboards
    • Monitors department indicators and establish quality goals
    • Participates and leads patient outcomes workgroups and initiatives throughout Perioperative and Peri-procedural areas.
    • Develops, manages, and guides quality, patient outcomes and process improvements for patient care.
    • Ensures and prepares for compliance with The Joint Commission, OSHA, DPH and BWH guidelines.
    • Facilitates the standardization of processes and procedures to ensure daily execution of quality, safety, and process optimization.
    • Perform other duties as assigned, appropriate, and or required.

    What You Will Bring

    • Management experience in healthcare setting required
    • Bachelor’s degree in a Healthcare related field
    • Clinical Background strongly preferred (RN, Technologist, CRNA, PA, NP)
    • Master’s degree preferred
    • Minimum of 5- 7years of Operating Room/Surgical Services/Procedural experience with demonstrated experience in process improvement and patient outcomes.
