Monitors patient data on drug therapies outcomes, reactions, and errors. Being a Clinical Pharmacist provides education and outreach to medical staff on prescribing guidelines, alternative drug therapies, and risk mitigation. Administers a prior authorization program. Additionally, Clinical Pharmacist requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D.). Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh).     Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking a full-time (37.5 Hours) Pharmacist to serve our patients at our Akron Health Center. This candidate is passionate about serving marginalized and medically underserved populations.     SUMMARY

    The Pharmacist is responsible for all operations and management of the Pharmacy. In addition, they will organize and implement policies and procedures for the pharmacy in accordance with established policies of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio in cooperation with the board of directors, and in accordance with accepted standards of good pharmacy practice according to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and all federal requirements. The Pharmacist shall be the Pharmacist-in-Charge as defined by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy for the Pharmacy, which is a licensed pharmacy by the State of Ohio.

     

    The Pharmacist’s services will assist customers by interpreting symptoms and providing immediate treatment or to successfully referring customers to a suitable care provider. Additionally, they will prepare pharmaceuticals by reviewing and interpreting care provider’s directives and detecting any therapeutic incompatibilities.

     

    To be successful in this role, they must be customer-focused and remain up to date with the latest advances in pharmaceutical science.

     

    WHAT YOU WILL BRING

    • B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
    • Licensed pharmacist by Ohio Board of Pharmacy (or eligible prior to employment)
    • Prior relevant experience in a community pharmacy
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills
    • Expert understanding of pharmaceutical services in alignment with the Oho Pharmaceutical Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
    • Ability to make informed, independent, and objective judgement
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously
    • Commitment to the ethos, values, and service standards of Planned Parenthood and ability to communicate these to associates, volunteers, prospective job applicants, and others in the community

     

    Preferred but not required Qualifications:

    • Residency training or equivalent experience
    • Board certification
    • Prior leadership or management experience

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Determine the objectives of the department; plan, organize and direct general pharmacy policies and procedures.
    • Establish quality specifications for all activities within the pharmacy.
    • Interview, select and supervise the activities of the department staff in addition to communicate, interpret, and discuss organizational policies and procedures.
    • Determine job objectives, work methods and performance standards; review their performance relative to corporate objectives and discuss appraisal with each employee and performance; authorize and communicate salary changes, promotions, transfers, discipline, and discharge and administer all other personnel actions.
    • Establish reporting and approval procedures; delegate authority to assistants for them to direct the work of others. Provide authorization for supervision, orientation, training, job objectives, performance standards and appraisal, personal development, safety, communication, discipline, grievances, and other personnel actions.
    • Keep employees informed of matters affecting their work and interest; interpret and explain policies and procedures, objectives, operations, services, organization, budget and seek comments and suggestions from employees.
    • Provide for maintenance of appropriate records to assure that the quality, quantity, and timeliness of work done can be documented.
    • Review and appraise work of others within the department; review and evaluate departmental performance; keep the Senior Leadership Team informed of the progress and problems and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities.
    • Seek compliance with outside agencies relevant to requirements for maintenance of services. Assure that professional competence of staff is maintained through education and coordination with senior staff. Plan for both short and long-range goals of the center in concert with the whole organizational plan of PPGOH.
    • Upon request, prepare, reports and special studies; participate in and contribute to management and professional committees at all levels inside and outside of the pharmacy; keep informed of trends and changes insides and outside of the pharmacy which relate to assigned functions.
    • Maintain competency in care for patients of all age groups and developmental stages, and maintain competency as specifically indicated by orientation guidelines for a particular unit.
    • Implement clinical programs as appropriate to serve the patients and local community.
    • Develop and track metrics, in partnership with the Vice President of Patient Experience, Vice President of Strategy and Transformation, and Chief Financial Officer.
    • Analyze reports on critical organizational functions and provide necessary recommendations.
    • Set and manage budget and financial measures of the pharmacy department in coordination with the Vice President of Patient Experience, and the Chief Financial Officer.
    • Coordinate the activities, programs and strategic pharmacy plans throughout the affiliate ensuring consistency across all entities of the organization.
    • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of pharmacy policies, programs, laws and issues, industry policies/programs, and coordinate integration of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio.
    • Responsible for compliance with all local, state, and federal legislation.
    • Provide technical advice and knowledge, in collaboration with Vice President of Quality and Risk Management, outside counsel, to others within the Patient Experience department, senior leadership team. and affiliate-wide, as appropriate.
    • Strategically evaluate and implement sophisticated pharmacy related programs and initiatives, while working with organizational leadership to build consensus around departmental organization strategy and tactics.
