Cloud Systems Architect is responsible for the design and management of an organization's cloud systems, applications, policies, and strategy. Evaluates and identifies the best cloud solutions for the organization. Being a Cloud Systems Architect develops and modifies scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) and platform-as-a-service (PAAS) platforms. Ensures the security and compliance of cloud environments, including data protection and privacy. Additionally, Cloud Systems Architect monitors and analyzes cloud infrastructure performance to identify and resolve issues proactively. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud-based environments for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Designs controls and processes that utilize available audit tools. Maintains up-to-date and extensive knowledge of cloud products and technology. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cloud Systems Architect works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.   • The Office of Information Technology (Client), Application Services, is looking for a Systems Architect to provide temporary assistance in upgrading, configuring and optimizing the Department's WebFOCUS/iWay products and related server environments. Currently, the Department has undertaken a joint migration effort involving Client systems and the Office of Work Program and Budget (OWPB) and Office of Comptroller (OOC) business units to move from WebFOCUS version 7.7 to 8.2. The Systems Architect in this temporary key role will be tasked to ensure the WebFOCUS/iWay products and related server environments are properly upgraded, configured, and optimized for the offices of OWPB and OOC, as well as the Department, to allow the migration effort to continue.

    This position is an expert/lead technical role.

    The duties of this position may be broad and include such tasks as adding and removing individuals from the list of authorized users, archiving files, overseeing password protection and other security measures, monitoring usage of shared resources, and diagnosing malfunctioning equipment. The Systems Architect will be responsible for working on projects, systems, and/or issues of high complexity that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments, and will be expected to provide daily operations support, maintenance and administration for the Department's WebFOCUS server environment. Provide research, analysis, inventories, and related activities for transitioning WebFOCUS to Microsoft Power BI or similar Business Intelligence tools. This position requires ownership of complex issues in order to support Department business. This position may also have an element of coaching/mentoring more junior technical staff.

    Education

    Bachelor's or Master's Degree or technical institute degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

    Experience

    1. Must have experience with Information Builders, Inc (IBI)– WebFOCUS/iWay products and related server environments.

    2. IIS Administration.

    3. Network communications, including TCP/IP and DNS Samba/CIFS file sharing and NTFS permissions.

    4. Typically has 7-10 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/systems environments performing systems planning, architecture design, engineering (hardware and software), and optimization.

    5. 3 to 5 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in systems operations, support, maintenance, and administration.

    6. Network Performance Tuning, LAN Knowledge, Network Design, and Implementation, Problem Solving, Strategic Planning, Multi-tasking, Quality Focus, Coordination, Technical Understanding, Quick Study, Technical Zeal.

    7. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Florida Department of Transportation systems and applications.

    8. Development process knowledge or experience a plus.

    Primary Job Duties/ Tasks

    This resource will primarily be tasked with performing WebFOCUS server and application software support activities for Client Application Services including, but not limited to the following:

    1. Support and expand FDOT infrastructure as needed.

    2. Coordinate server configuration and administration with multiple parties (AST, FDOT, and contractors).

    3. Troubleshoot end user issues.

    4. Make recommendations for future server and software upgrades.

    5. Maintaining, repairing, and upgrading network and computer systems.

    6. Provide resource support to upgrade, configure, and optimize the Department's WebFOCUS server environment.

    7. Facilitation with Client staff resource to provide knowledge and skills transfer.

    8. Assist with configuring WebFOCUS server security.

    9. Assist the Department in leveraging new features in the product such as App Studio and Deferred Execution (a possible replacement for mainframe batch processing), and new features in existing products such as ReportCaster (Report Library).

    10. Assist in modernizing the Department's WebFOCUS application development environment.

    11. Assist impacted business units with migration effort.

    12. Assist with proactive application architecture and tuning to get the most benefit out of the Department's distributed WebFOCUS environment.

    13. Provide proactive review, adjusting, tuning and optimization of the Department's WebFOCUS & iWay servers.

    14. Provide for the concentrated oversight and review of vendor patches, maintenance releases and upgrades to the server.

    15. Facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications across the enterprise.

    16. Reviews, advises, and designs standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs vs benefits, and impact on the enterprise business processes and goals.

    17. Develops and documents the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards.

    18. Assists in the development of and manages the architecture governance process.

    19. Provides technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate.

    20. Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise's architecture needs.

    Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    The submitted candidate must be able to apply the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:

    1. Strong familiarity with all Information Builders, Inc (IBI)– WebFOCUS/iWay products and related server environments.

    2. Experience establishing systems by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.

    3. Experience monitoring systems and applications to ensure security, availability and performance.

    4. Ability to maintain network and systems performance by performing systems monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting systems and application problems; escalating problems to vendor.

    5. Experience using Microsoft Power BI or other Business Intelligence tools.

    6. Ability to secure systems by developing systems access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.

    7. The ability to multi-task, appropriately prioritize, work with minimal supervision, and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

    8. Experience establishing systems specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements.

    9. Ability to prepare users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.

    10. Experience upgrading systems by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.

    11. Ability to provide senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise's overall systems architecture.
