Coding Compliance Specialist jobs in Lexington, KY

Coding Compliance Specialist researches and develops the pre-certification insurance policy standards and criteria used by case management and utilization reviewers that will ensure that requested medical services are appropriate and medically necessary. Collaborates with medical professionals to resolve questions about policy development and standards. Being a Coding Compliance Specialist assigns correct ICD, CPT, or other coding assignments for medical procedures that support policy standards in claims systems. Provides expertise and solutions to users regarding the appropriate coding for claims. Additionally, Coding Compliance Specialist has broad knowledge of medical coding systems. May require an associate degree in healthcare administration, a related field, or equivalent. Requires AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC). May alternatively require Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Coding Compliance Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Summary:

    The Summer Meal Compliance Specialist will provide support to Grow Appalachia’s Berea Kids Eat program during the summer months at meal sites. The Compliance Specialist will help ensure full compliance and strategic operations of the program through proper meal documentation, meal and menu planning, monitoring of summer meal sites, and effective internal documentation and communication strategies. The Compliance Specialist will monitor and track forms and documentation for all summer meal sites within the Berea Kids Eat service area.

    Minimum Education Required:

    Education required to ensure success in this position:
    • High school diploma or GED

    Experience required to ensure success in this position:
    • Experience working with youth under 18
    • Experience with USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) meal service and compliance regulations
    • Experience in developing USDA Child Nutrition Program menus that meet SFSP requirements

    License, certification, or registration necessary:
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:
    • Grow Appalachia vehicles and vans

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Regular and predictable attendance is essential. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    • Ensure all menu requirements are fully met through a Menu Review Checklist completed and filed weekly;
    • Ensure accuracy of daily attendance records;
    • Ensure accuracy and records of meals served through weekly reconciliation;
    • Ensure proper filing of hard and electronic copies of all required and supplemental documentation on an ongoing basis throughout the summer;
    • Help train meal site staff on proper procedures to ensure meal compliance with the USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP);
    • Observe meal service weekly at meal sites within the Berea Kids Eat service area;
    • Conduct regular bi-weekly monitor reviews of meal sites and complete and file official Monitor Review Forms;
    • Conduct additional training and implement a process improvement plan should meal service or meal sites exhibit non-compliance with SFSP regulations and requirements; and
    • Liaise with the College’s Office of Government Grant Services to support internal controls for Grow Appalachia’s Berea Kids Eat program;

    Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.
